Why Is My Dishwasher Not Cleaning The Dishes?
Posted on: 14 August 2020
A dishwasher is one of the essential appliances you can have in your home. It will make it easier for you to keep your kitchen clean and organized by washing your utensils. If your dishwasher isn't cleaning your dishes as required, there are some troubleshooting guidelines you can consider. If the situation remains the same, then the dishwasher needs to be checked out by a specialist who is excellent with kitchen appliance repairs.
So, why would your dishwasher stop cleaning the dishes properly? Here are some possible reasons.
Water Drainage Issues
If your dishwasher cannot drain dirty water efficiently, it will be challenging to get clean dishes. This problem occurs when your filter is blocked by dirt and debris. To get rid of dirt, you have to locate the filter and remove the dirt and grime. If you don't know where the filter is, consider checking the manual. Make sure the machine is switched off and disconnected at the switch.
The water should be disconnected, as well. Clean the filter thoroughly before returning it to the dishwasher. Don't forget to clean the filter every other month to avoid water drainage problems.
Dirty Dishwasher/Filters
You cannot expect to get clean dishes when you are using a dirty dishwasher. This is the reason you're required to clean the appliance and filters regularly. As you use the dishwasher, food particles and other forms of debris can easily accumulate in the appliance, and this will make it difficult for it to clean the dishes. Therefore, clean the interior, including essential components like the filter, with a cleaning product that can easily remove grease and limescale. Do not dismantle the equipment to clean the filter – simply slide the part you want to clean and do the needful.
Poor Detergent Choice
Using the wrong detergent can cause dishwasher problems. This is the reason experts recommend that you confirm the type of water you use before you start using your dishwasher. Different detergents react differently to hard or soft water. So if you use hard water, consider getting a suitable cleanser. The last thing you want is to see the scum on your glass mugs, cups, or other utensils because you used the wrong detergent. Simply put, check out the detergent label to confirm if it's suitable for soft or hard water before using it.
Taking the necessary precautions can help you get clean dishes every time you use your dishwasher, so keep these tips in mind.
